No mater how often we write, discuss, talk, share and argue about effective teaching, without real action all these go in vain. This week 6 again came to me as a very new since it made me prepare some slides of interactive PowerPoint which I had never practiced before. The techniques for interactive classes like Think-Pair-Share, Quick Write, Concept Tests, etc. turned to be very helpful and effective.
Working out through the final project is still on. This week I have created a separate blog for my students aiming to improve their writing skills where I will be posting some questions or topics for which they will be sharing their opinions, ideas and knowledge on the blog. Some of them have created gmail account too. Hope it turns to be fruitful.
PS. It's my proposal to all my colleagues; How about getting linked through social media and creating a group on messenger for long lasting intimacy??
ReplyDeleteDear Gakul,
I think you put it right when mentioning that there has to be a match between our words and action. In fact, without implementing all what we have talked about, learned, discussed and decided, that will turn out as mirage in the middle of the desert. The same as your experience, many of the techniques that I have learned this week seem to be new. In fact, even if they were not, working on them by following the guidelines in the reading list make the experience all new. I, without any question, feel that there would be a dramatic change in the class participation upon showing students a developed form of my interactive PPT. Indeed, the techniques are quite promising and I cannot wait seeing my students loving the experience. I also intend to share that with my colleagues as they all use PPTs, but I do not think that they have paid attention to such techniques
Good to hear that you are already working on your project. It is such an interesting coincidence that you are using the blog, the same as my project. I would love to see your progress as I still have some time until my students return back to college after the holiday.
All the best,
Majid
Thank you so much Majid! Good Luck to you too.
